Sacramental Preparation
At Holy Cross Catholic Primary School, we collaborate closely with our Parish Priest, Father Michael, to provide sacramental preparation as part of our Religious Education curriculum.
We offer a comprehensive support programme for parents and children to develop their understanding of the significance and importance of the sacrament they are about to receive. Our aim is to help children grow in faith and continue their journey towards becoming closer to God.
In Year 3, children will receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, also known as ‘First Forgiveness’, in the Autumn Term. They will learn about forgiveness and the concept of ‘saying sorry’ for anything they may have done that does not reflect how God wants us to live. In the Summer Term of Year 3, children will also receive the Sacrament of the Eucharist, or ‘First Holy Communion’. They will be taught about the ‘Consecration’, which is the part of the Mass where the bread and wine are transformed into the ‘Body and Blood of Christ’, allowing them to receive the body of Christ every time they attend Mass from that day forward.
